Matchsaver Deliver Pitch Protection to FK RFS RIGA, Latvia

Matchsaver are delighted to announce the delivery of a set of Air Roller Covers to RFS Riga football club in Latvia, who compete in the Virslīga, the top tier of the Latvian football league.

Founded only in 2005, RFS have been Latvian champions three times and have won the Latvian cup on three occasions also. As a result, RFS became only the second Latvian club to qualify for European football’s group stages in 2022. This was the same year that the club moved to the new LNK Sporta Parks stadium.

Seating 2,300 and privately owned the LNK Sporta Parks stadium is part of a state-of-the-art sporting complex built to provide modern facilities to Latvian football’s expanding participation and fast improving status.

To help add to the new infrastructure the club approached Matchsaver to provide pitch protection for the stadiums natural turf pitch.

Waterproof Air Roller Covers were selected and a set of 7 were delivered in winter 2024. Deploying side-line to side-line and delivered fully assembled the Air Roller Covers will help mitigate against the Latvian weather and be used with the clubs Under Soil Heating (USH). Tough but light in weight Matchsaver covers will provide pitch protection so enabling rain, snow and frost to be removed safely from the pitch. Plus, with a 70% light transparency rate the covers will help with pitch germination also.
