Winters in the north Italian city of Turin can be severe with heavy snow and rain common between December and March. As a result, Torino FC and Matchsaver are long-standing partners. The football club has been using Matchsaver pitch protection products with great success with minimal maintenance. A Matchsaver Automated Pitch Protection System is in operation protecting the Stadio Olimpico pitch, and Matchsaver Air Roller Covers are protecting pitches at Torino’s new Filadelphia stadium.
The first Matchsaver cover was installed at the Delle Alpi Stadium (Juventus). Further to great results in maintaining the conditions of the pitch during bad weather, a second system was installed at the Stadio Olimpico (Torino FC)Ing. Giancarlo Revelchione. Municipality of Turin
Torino’s groundstaff use tractors to clear the covers from snow, ice and excess water before the covers are rolled back and stored away.
