Located in the south London borough of Merton AFC Wimbledon began its meteoric rise in 2002 when a small group of former Wimbledon FC supporters decided to start a new club from scratch when Wimbledon FC moved to Milton Keynes.

Starting off in the Combined Counties League (the ninth tier of English football) the new club of AFC Wimbledon swiftly rose through the various pyramids of English non-league football to brilliantly win back promotion to the Football League in 2011.

Owned by the supporters the club took up residence at their brand-new purpose-built stadium in November 2020. Built on the old Greyhound stadium at Plough Lane the stadium now provides a new home and is a fitting tribute to the remarkable rise of this remarkable club.
