Matchsaver Deliver Pitch Protection To Grasshopper Zurich’s Training Facility

Matchsaver Pitch Protection has delivered a set of waterproof air roller covers to Grasshopper Zurich FC’s training facility in Switzerland.

Known as the GC Campus and developed by the club as a state-of-the-art training ground, the complex is the biggest project in the club’s history. Comprising of a mixture of natural turf and artificial pitches the training centre serves not just as a training and education hub for all the club’s top-level football teams, but also as the corporate headquarters of Grasshopper Fussball AG.

Zurich’s weather is typical for Switzerland with plenty of rain and snow during the winter months, sub-zero temperatures from December through to March/April. This means training conditions can be difficult. Therefore, the club decided that pitch protection was needed to keep any training interruptions to a minimum.

The club approached Matchsaver to provide the best solution for the GC Campus.

After consultation the biggest issue was that space beside the training pitches is very limited. Usually, Matchsaver Air Roller Covers are delivered and deployed as a set of 7 from side-line to side-line to cover a full sized pitch, but this clearly was not an option for the club. However, Matchsaver Air Roller Covers are a very adaptable product, so instead of a set of the usual 7 an extended set of 5 air roller covers deploying goal to goal was specified to provide the solution. Same coverage different deployment.

An extended set of 5 waterproof air roller covers were assembled and despatched as requested.

The pitch covers will provide the necessary protection to help keep training matches on during the winter and through periods of heavy rainfall.
